Rumbek Catholic Diocese on Tuesday donated non food items including mattresses, blankets, buckets to inmates at Rumbek Central Prisons.
Holy Family Cathedral Parish Priest Andrea Osman Okello told Good News Radio that the Diocese donated 375 mattresses, 350 mosquito nets, 400 cups and buckets.He added that they gave several second hand clothes for men, women and children in prison.
Fr. Osman said the donation was part of the pastoral commitment for the church which reflects Jesus’ teaching of taking care of prisoners spiritually and materially.
Rumbek Prison Officer Majak Alawei Mabor appreciated the Catholic Church’s donation.
He said the church solved 70 percent of the basic needs of the inmates.
There are over 400 inmates including women and children at Rumbek Central Prisons.
