Oil production resumed at Block Five A in Thar Jath, Unity State, on Saturday.
National Petroleum and Mining Minister Stephen Dhieu Dau told journalists upon his arrival in JIA that the oil was now flowing from Thar Jath oilfields to the Red Sea.He said preparations for production in a second oilfield located in Robkona and Pariang counties of Unity state reached 50 percent and are expected to start pumping within days.
Mr Dhieu added that oil production in Fauloj oilfield of Upper Nile State starts until April 20 after the pipeline is repaired.
The minister added that oil will reach international market in the end of May and South Sudan will collect cash money probably in July.
A media crew that accompanied the minister told CRN that the damage to the pipeline was estimated to cost 35 percent of oil waste if the production was to start in Upper Nile now.
He said the oil company explained that it was better to renovate the pipeline before resuming production in Upper Nile oil fields.
