President Salva Kiir Mayardit departed Juba on Friday morning for Djibouti to attend the inauguration ceremony of Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh.
According to officials, President Kiir’s visit underscores the growing diplomatic relations between South Sudan and Djibouti, with both nations sharing a common vision for peace, regional stability, and economic growth in the Horn of Africa.
During the visit, President Kiir is expected to hold bilateral discussions focusing on strengthening economic cooperation, regional integration, and trade opportunities.
Djibouti’s strategic location as a major gateway for international commerce and maritime access is seen as a significant opportunity for South Sudan to improve access to seaports and facilitate exports.
