The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wau, His Lordship Matthew Remijio Adam, has described Holy Week as a sacred period of silence that allows believers to deeply understand its meaning and reflect on the virtues of Christ.
Speaking during Palm Sunday Holy Eucharist, Bishop Remijio reflected on the passion of Jesus Christ, including His suffering and death on the cross. He emphasized that Christ willingly chose the way of the cross to carry the burden of humanity and reconcile people with God.
The Bishop explained that the silence observed during Holy Week is not simply the absence of speech, but a call to avoid wrongdoing, corruption, and worldly distractions. He urged Christians to embrace inner silence to understand the true meaning of the season, which centers on forgiveness, reconciliation, and Christ-like virtues.
Bishop Remijio further encouraged the faithful to engage in spiritual reflection, creating space within their hearts to encounter Christ more deeply and renew their commitment to peaceful and righteous living.
He concluded by calling on believers to use Holy Week as a time for inner transformation, fostering forgiveness, reconciliation, and a stronger spiritual connection with Christ.
