Communities in Kapoeta engage on cash for asset and water pools project

Catholic Relief Service or CRS is engaging communities in Kapoeta North County on cash for asset and water pools project by, confirms Epone Emmanuel Lolimo Commissioner of Kapoeta North.

Radio Emmanuel quoted him saying the project is part of the disaster risk reduction for restoring roads and opening water points to allow free passable.

Emmanuel says at the end of the activity, the community will receive some cash to support their family needs.

“Kapoeta North is currently peaceful, and we are engaged with a lot of developmental activities from CRS, I am glad to inform that CRS is doing a lot of activities in Kapoeta North County under the program of disaster risk reduction activities where the communities are consulted on the activities they can be supported on. So far the communities are engage to open the roads and open water points, after the end of the project they are paid some money to help”, he elaborated.

Commissioner Emmanuel says if the roads are improved, it will benefit the community in the county in terms of service delivery to the population and saves lives of pregnant and lactating women in the area.

He further reiterates that water will help reduce cases of communal conflicts that always rise due to water shortage to animals in the zone.

The Commissioner calls on the entire population in Kapoeta North County and Eastern Equatoria at large to support humanitarian organizations to deliver services to communities in the state.

“My massage to the people of eastern Equatoria and Kapoeta North is that let us support our partners that are delivering services to our communities, like now we have CRS and the rest of the humanitarian organizations working in Kapoeta North County, we need to support them, give them enough support to deliver services to the community, like this hard time where we are implementing the Revitalized Peace Agreement”, he appeals.

The commissioner made the statement to Radio Emmanuel in a telephone interview from Kapoeta North County on Wednesday.
