Secretary for Food Security and Agriculture, Afsa Idriss Almarin, said lack of sufficient rain in many parts of the Nuba Mountains has affected planting season.
She revealed that mechanized farming has also been affected due to covid-19 pandemic lockdown that prevents the secretariat from receiving agriculture supplies from local partners.
The official advised the local community to continue planting crops to fight hunger many challenges caused by covid-19 and poor rainy season.
Unconfirmed number of cattle have died in April and May due to drought in the Nuba Mountains region.
