The Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven in is a day of glory, joy and victory shown to Christians through the victory, said the Catholic Bishop of Yei on Thursday.
Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe explains that some Christians died and are buried, but their souls are in heaven, Radio Easter reports.
‘This is a day of glory, a day of victory shown to us already in the victory of Blessed Virgin Mary who has walked her way in following Jesus here on earth, until now she is in heaven both in body and spirit’, he stresses.
‘We know we have so many of our people who are with God. We know in our teaching, when a human being a person is death, the body is buried, the body gets rotten. In some cases not buried, in other cases may be eaten by wild animals and birds. If they die in the river on the waters may be eaten by fish. These people have their bodies buried, rotten, eaten, but their souls are in heaven’, Bishop Lodu further explains.
The catholic prelate cites that the whole Catholic Church celebrates the Assumption because the body and soul of Blessed Virgin Mary is taken to heaven in the invitation of Christ.
He mentions that Mary’s being in heaven is a fulfillment of what all Christians are waiting for.
Bishop Lodu was preaching at Christ the King Cathedral on Thursday during the celebration of the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven.
