Strategic Fuel Fund, a subsidiary of South Africa’s Central Energy Fund, submitted a request for proposal for a service provider to conduct a pre-feasibility and feasibility study for an oil refinery project in South Sudan.
South Sudan Minister of Petroleum, Awow Daniel Chuang, highlighted the need to develop the country refining sector.
According to Energy Mix Report, he stressed the importance of international investors in its refining sector.
‘We have one small refinery which is not enough for the entire consumption in the country’, Chuang said.
The request for proposal followed the signing of an agreement with the government in May to operate Block B2 together with Nilepet, and includes a six-year exploration period.
