UNMISS organizes discussions on women’s role and peace process

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS will on Thursday organize a high-level panel discussion in collaboration with Catholic University of South Sudan on women’s role and the peace process
 
The discussion marks celebration International Women’ Day under the theme’ ‘Catalyst for Change: The Role of Women in South Sudan’s Peace Process.’
 
The debate is a new roadmap for peace in South Sudan and important that women of the country get involved in the peace process including leadership roles in the government.
 
Other areas are: cessation of hostilities in a gender-sensitive way and how to put an end to sexual violence. 
 
Panelists including Angelina Teny, Co-Chair, Strategic Defence and Security Review Board, Abraham Awolich, SUDD Institute and Lona James of Catholic University will exchange their views.
 
Other panelists are: Kasumi Nishigaya, UNMISS Chief Gender Affairs and Theresa Siricio Iro, Chairperson SANU Political Party.
 
The First Lady of South Sudan Mary Ayen Mayardit is expected to be the guest of honor for the discussion to be moderated by Justice Ajonye Perpetua.
