Unpaid arrears have paralyzed work at Nationality Passport and Migration office in Juba for more than two weeks now, says Police spokesperson.
Brigadier General Daniel Justin Buolo says the German contractor company stopped issuing nationality certificates and passport because it was not paid for some months.
He admits the decision has affected the delivery of service at the directorate.
Brigadier General Justin says the government is working to resolve the issue soon so that people are not affected.
But he could not disclose the figure of money demanded by the company.
38-year-old Juba resident who preferred to be called Catherine only says she was ashamed to learn about the closure of the passports and migration office.
She says government needs to adhere to its promise and mobilize resources to pay the company so that people’s lives are not affected.
Catherine hopes to see peace and stability in the country so that capable South Sudanese could return home to help in such situation.
Officials from the German company were not immediately available for comment on this story.
