The German ambassador to South Sudan has reiterated the commitment of his government to support peace and development in the country.

Jan Hendrik van Thiel says the two countries have a long historic tie even before South Sudan gained its independence.

He was speaking to diplomats and participants while commemorating German Unity Day on Monday in Juba.

Ambassador Hendrik encourages the warring parties to bring about peace in the country so that other developmental projects could progress.

‘I can reassure you that Germany will stand at your side to and continue to support any genuine endeavor and efforts to reach the development goals’ Hendrik said.

Germany and Japan are the only two countries who fund the ongoing National Dialogue.
