The ministry of Finance and Economic Planning has suspended the increase of work permit fees for foreigners working in South Sudan.
Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Stephen Dheiu Dau told journalists on Saturday that the government suspended implementation of the recently increased work permit fees for foreign workers.
The government has also neglected plans to increase aviation fees, he added.
He says government is reviewing the fees and would reduce the cost to not more than 5,000 US dollars.
Last month, the ministry of Labour and Public increased work permit fees for foreign workers from 400 U.S dollars to 10,000 dollars for professional/business class, blue collar jobs to 2,000 dollars and casual labourers 1,000 dollars as a measure to fight economic crisis.
But the increment attracted harsh outcry from humanitarian agencies who argued that the move would restrict work of foreign aid workers in the country.
