The speaker of Juba City Legislative Assembly says commercial sex work is increasing.
Michael Lado Alla-Jabu fears the rise in prostitution may lead to increase in HIV/AIDS infections in the city, Radio Bakhita reports.
He says bylaws have been put in place to prohibit prostitution and homosexuality acts in Juba City.
Speaker Lado warns that whoever violates the bylaws shall be liable for a fine not exceeding five hundred South Sudanese Pounds or one month imprisonment.
He says a big number of nationals and foreigners have been detained over prostitution since 2013.
The speaker believes prostitution, killing and other forms of criminal acts are on increase due to economic crisis.
Economic crisis and insecurity have taken a toll on lives of ordinary citizens, he says.
