Commercial motorcycle riders known locally as Boda-boda have complained that citizens in Wau refrain from using their transport due to increase in charges and high price of fuel in the markets.

The riders told Radio Voice of Hope on Tuesday that they take only one passenger per day which decreases their income.

They explained that they charge 30 South Sudanese Pounds per a passenger for the nearest place because 1.5 litre of fuel costs 400 Pounds.

Daniel Atak, a fuel dealer at Jou Market, said the shortage led to increase of a litre to 300 Pounds.

He wonders how the price increased on Monday as was 260 Pounds.

Fuel prices are not stable in Wau and the reason behind increase is not known, but all stations are not operating for more than two months.

Recently, the state government announced that there are trucks transporting fuel from Juba to Wau, but the arrival time is not yet conform.
