Conserving wildlife must be incorporated from the early stages of education, said Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO.

Irina Bokova called for joint efforts to protect wildlife to eradicate poverty, boost food security and advance economic development.

She expressed Organization’s commitment to conserve great apes and their surroundings in the world.

Bokova was talking during the World Environment Day under the theme: ‘The fight against the illegal trade in wildlife’ on Sunday.

The celebration focused on joining the war against unlawful wildlife trade to preserve the nature.
