Ninety thousand girls in one thousand and four hundred schools  received twenty-eight South Sudanese Pounds this year.

The money is given through the Girls’ Education South Sudan ‘cash transfer’ initiative.

Each school girl from Primary five to senior got 320 Pounds to attend classes.

The initiative aims at reducing the financial barriers to education that often keep girls out of classrooms.

The education system is on a path toward success, believes Richard Arden, Senior Education Advisor at the UK Department for International Development.

He expects 200 thousand girls to have benefited from at least one cash transfer by 2018.
