Release the detained civil society activists who expressed concerns of citizens, Community Empowerment for Progress Organization, CEPO appeals.

Grace John Kenyi, CEPO Governance and Peace Manager, calls on the Western Bahr El Ghazal State government to release the activists unconditionally.

They were raising public grievances for the state government to address, she argues.

Ms John calls on the national government to intervene in the case of civil society activists’ arrest, detention or torture in the country.

The detained activists include CEPO State Coordinator, Steven Robo, Youth Organization for Community Development official, Arkangelo and Unity Culture Development Centre Director, Angelo Vesensio, the manager explains.

14 civil society organizations in Wau earlier petitioned the state government against army looting and beating civilians in residences.
