Kumbur Payam Director in Umdurdu Administrative Unit in Heiban County ordered all communities to kill stray dogs.
Jebrin Musa told Radio Voice of Peace on Tuesday that the order followed reports that dogs were biting people in the past months.
He said dogs’ owners would be held accountable and punished accordingly, if a dog bites a person.
Mr Musa says people were dying of dog-bites, ordering citizens in Kumbur Payam to kill any dog found moving in the street.
The Payam administrator also advised community members to carry with them sticks wherever they go to kill or scare away wild dogs.
