Mother of Mercy Mission Hospital nurse in the Nuba Mountains says diagnosis indicates that the number of people with Sexually Transmitted Infections or STIs range from the age of 15 to 35 years.
Children Ward Department Nurse in Charge Kukani Ibrahim explains that Sexually Transmitted Infections cases are higher than those of malaria, Radio Voice of Peace reported.
The nurse adds that in every ten people tested at least one is positive with STIs in Mother of Mercy Mission Hospital.
He says most STIs indicate availability of HIV/AIDS or possibility of contracting the virus easily.
The nurse discloses that most of the people infected with STIs are women because their surface areas are large and more exposed to diseases than their male counterparts.
He adds that children born of mothers with STIs like Syphilis or Gonorrhea experience deformation, blindness or other abnormalities.
The nurse advises people to test for STIs and HIV instead of blind trust for each other.
