Thieves broke into Our Lady of Assumption Church of the Catholic Diocese of Torit.

Parish Priest, Fr Noel Ugwagu, told Radio Bakhita in a telephone interview that the thieves broke into the sacristy, attempting to take sound system amplifiers, but dogs in the compound scared them to run away at night.

He states that the parish reported the matter to the police office and that the state security agents are carrying out the investigation into the matter.

The Parish Priest encourages the Christian community in and around the Diocese to remain courageous as two policemen were deployed to guard the Church.

Fr Ugwagu warns those practicing such evil deeds against robbing church premises, calling upon them to stop because stealing is sinful before God.

He notes that it was the same thieves who broke into the Church in January were the one suspected for carrying out the same action this month.

Our Lady of Assumption Parish in Torit Catholic Diocese is scheduled to mark the feast of its patron on August 15th expected to be presided by a Bishop from Nigeria and a thanksgiving mass on Sunday by Apostolic Administrator Monsignor Thomas Oliha.
