Organization for Socio-Economic Transformation or OSET appeals to the government to ensure that citizens enjoy their two percent share in the exploitation of natural resources.

The Organization’s Program Manager Malish Steven Cosmas on Monday calls for respect of laws guiding natural resource exploitation including community consultations and transparency in awarding contracts to companies, Radio Easter reported.

He attributes several community strikes to exploitation of their rights to enjoy resources in their areas.

In early 2014, Kagelu community demonstrated against the government following diminishing teak forest while little service was seen on the ground with poor schools, health facility and drinking water.

So far, the community saw a new well-built primary school as a respond to their demand.
