The Nuba Mountains’ Engineering Affairs Secretariat Director General for water resources and minerals has reminded communities to protect water sources from any sort of damage.
Alias Hamad Makki tells Voice of Peace that the cost of buying spare parts for maintaining boreholes and water tanks is very expensive.
Mr Hamad adds that 50 tons of spare parts provided by local Non-governmental Organizations or NGOs helped in tackling water crisis in the Nuba Mountains region.
He urges community members to cooperate with water committees Bomas, Payams or Counties to protect water sources.
Hundreds of boreholes in the Nuba Mountains broke down since 2011.
