St John Paul Philosophy Seminarians on Tuesday attended a public lecture to on traffic safety in Yambio, Western Equatoria State.
The Seminary Rector Fr John Ngbapia Bakiri said the ideal was to train dynamic priests who have broad knowledge in and outside the Bible, Radio Anisa reported.
He added that every semester seminarians attend public lectures on environment, health, education and other aspects of life that are not included in their syllabus in the seminary.
State Traffic Police Director Lieutenant Colonel Hussein Girisi said lectures on traffic safety would be followed by systematic traffic laws to help seminarians become ambassadors to the public.
Seminarian David Tutu said citizens have a duty to respect traffic laws and rush accident victims to hospital instead of waiting for the traffic police.
Seminarian Emmanuel Mborimbuko said he learned that traffic officers should talk to people peacefully so that they cooperate with them.
The speakers advised drivers and cyclists to use normal speed limit of 30 km/h in town and value lives of people.
