Didinga Community Youth Chairperson of Budi County in Eastern Equatoria blamed elders for instigating cattle raiding due to their demand for many cows.

Mark Lojana Procol said elders are responsible for the recurring cattle rustling in the community because they always impose high bride price, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Didinga Women Association Chairperson Anyuny Flora also admitted that high bride price influences cattle raids.

She cited lack of education, idleness and poverty as other issues affecting peace among Didinga and its neighbouring communities, appealing to developmental partners to initiate projects to promote peace amongst women.

Women and youth from Budi and Ikwoto Counties in a two-day peace dialogue at Lotome requested for close observation and implementation of resolutions.

They said positive impacts of dialogue would enable the people engage in business for economic growth.

Over 20 Didinga warriors on Friday evening joined their community members to witness the peace dialogue in Lotome Boma, Losite Payam of Ikwoto County.
