Eastern Equatoria Commissioner of Police called on officers to be neutral while on duty without discriminating people along ethnic and relationship lines.
Major General Edward Demetry Lukak offered the advice last week after the conviction of 13 none-commissioned and five commissioned officers in Torit, Radio Emmanuel reported.
He said part of police responsibility is to protect lives of people and their property and ensure fair justice for lives lost.
Major General Lukak defended the verdict against the officers to improve the image of the police force to make it a professional institution and proof of peace in the country.
State Governor Louis Lobong Lojore ordered the arrest, investigation and prosecution of police officers believed to have aided the mysterious escape of the suspects.
The escapees were part of 25 suspects arrested from Loronyo on charges of killing over 20 mourners from Idali village who on December 6, 2014 came to pay their last respect to a deceased son in-law.
