Western Equatoria Education Minister revealed that the 2014 capitation grant helped to reduce the school fees at all levels in the state.
Pia Philip Michael explained that the the government reduced lower primary pupils to five South Sudanese Pounds, upper primary pupils, 15 Pounds and Secondary students to 100 Pounds, Radio Anisa reported.
He disclosed ministry’s plan to recruit 100 students who completed secondary schools to be trained for two years as professional teachers.
Minister Philip encouraged all students selected for the inter-school competitions to concentrate in the trainings as the tournaments are expected to start in mid February in ten playing grounds in Yambio.
He disclosed that candidates in Mvolo and Mundri West Counties prepared to sit Sudan syllabus.
State Education Acting Director for Exams Charles Ikpiro said primary leaving certificate results are at the final stage.
He added that marking process completed and the control team is compiling the results to be announced in the nearest future.
Mr Ikpiro disclosed that all the necessary arrangements for the South Sudan certificate exams are almost done and that the state Education ministry distributed scripts from Yambio to all centers on Thursday.
He said 544 candidates will sit in 17 centers across the state on Monday.
