The South Sudanese Network for Democratic and Elections or SSuNDE said it is important for the government first to strive for peace before elections.

SSuNDE Executive Director Ijjo Elias Odego said elections need a lot of time to develop voter register, verify voters’ names, register political parties and train high committees.

He said the coming elections would be difficult due to the ongoing conflict especially in Upper Nile states, making it difficult for candidates to express their opinions.

The Executive Director said it is important that peace should be a top priority before elections.
