United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS Chief reported that an estimated one point five million South Sudanese are experiencing crisis and emergency phases of food insecurity.

Ellen Margrethe L√∏j told journalists in Juba on Thursday that the number is expected to rise to 2.5 million in the coming weeks and that South Sudanese targeted for humanitarian aid would exceed four million.

She warned that the patience of the international community with the warring parties is wearing thin, calling for the peace process to reach a deal as soon as possible.

Ms L√∏j said the Mission would continue to monitor and report on human rights violations, lamenting that accountability for atrocities remains a key issue in the country.

The UNMISS Chief hopes peace comes to South Sudanese especially those suffering in the conflict-affected areas.
