Residents in Yei River rejected the relocation of the county headquarters to the proposed Otogo Payam.
Speaking in a stakeholders’ consultative meeting, residents say the location of the headquarters would make county lose its historical name and cause disunity of the people.
Yei River County Commissioner Bidali Cosmas said the meeting resolved to agree on the new county headquarters after approval of the new counties and feasibility studies in the four payams.
He said he would present the report to the state government based on local community’s recommendations.
