Western Bahr El Ghazal drivers during Transport Union’s visited to some stations in state on Friday criticized many difficulties ranging from taxes and roadblocks affecting their work.
One of the Sudanese driver drivers at Robua station, Mahjub Ahmed Abakar complained that many roadblocks and checkpoints hamper their travel to Western Bahr El Ghazal through Aweil, Voice of Hope reported.
He added that roads taxes frustrate their efforts in delivering goods to the state and South Sudan at large, asking concerned authorities in the young country to advise tax collectors to issue receipts.
Mr Ahmed pointed out that different checkpoints established on roads confuse drivers as to which office collects legal taxes as oppose to the illegal one.
State Transport Union chairman Hawat Hassan Acuil said their visit aimed at bridging a rift between the Union and drivers resulting to unresolved challenges affecting drivers.
He expressed commitment to support drivers address hardships in their day today work in collaboration with Western Bahr El Ghazal government.
