Sudd Institute in collaboration with United Nations Development Program is next Wednesday sponsoring a public lecture to explore citizens’ obligation to exert meaningful pressure to warring parties to reach a negotiated political settlement to restore peace and stability in South Sudan.
In a notice, CRN obtained, the lecture would discuss the imperative of instituting a people-centred constitution in the country during transitional arrangements.
The lecture is expected to prevent South Sudan from relapsing into another destructive conflict in the future by public discourses on how to design a better system.
The lecture would also explore governance system the country should adopt.
Sudd Institute lamented how resolution of South Sudan’s one-year old disruptive and costly war remains elusive; creating precarious conditions for millions.
The Institute credits South Sudanese for their reputable resilience and ability to rise up again.
