Western Equatoria Legislative Assembly Acting Speaker appealed to Agriculture Ministry and partners to improve farmers’ technology from traditional to modern farming, using tractors.
Juma Martin expressed government commitment to have a hunger-free state because a healthy population in mind and body reduces stress and prevent insecurity, Radio Anisa reported.
The Acting Speaker encouraged farmers to produce enough and export surplus to other states in South Sudan where people are in dire need for food.
Yambio County Commissioner persuaded farmers to cultivate and rare animals for local consumption and export.
Kuzee John Elia appealed to partners and the state agriculture ministry to train the extension workers, open feeder roads and support farmers to shift from domestic to commercial farming.
He emphasized on the consumption of local produces, urging the local farmers to rare chicken and cattle to produce milk and eggs locally.
The Commissioner stated that the more food surplus in the state, the more population grows.
