United States Agency for International Development or USAID and the national Health Ministry’s Malaria Control Program distributed about three hundred and fifty thousand long lasting insecticide treated nets to Central and Western Equatoria States.
A statement, CRN obtained explains that the mosquito nets provide high protection to women and children against malaria.
The nets were distributed to antenatal and immunization clinics for pregnant women and children under five years.
US President’s Malaria Initiative funded the program which began early October and concluded mid November.
Malaria is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the country, accounting for over 40 percent and over 20 percent deaths at health facilities.
