Western Bahr El Ghazal private schools dominated South Sudan Secondary Certificate exams results the State Education Ministry announced on Monday.

State Education Minister Michael Madut Chan said the top ten schools results were dominated by private schools, challenging government administrators, Voice of Hope reported.

The Minister said performance this year dropped by zero point seven percent compared to last year.

Mr Madut explained that out of 2,523 candidates who sat this year, 1,726 passed, representing 68.2 percent.

The Minister said girls’ performance lower due to exams delay and the December crisis which discouraged many from concentration.

He appreciated boys for passing with 74.1 percent compared to 70.6 percent of last year.

The Minister denounced claims that teachers screening in Western Bahr El Ghazal was the reason behind poor performance in government schools.

Western Bahr El Ghazal occupied the fifth position in South Sudan.
