UN appoints an African UNIDO Managing Director

United Nations in Geneva appointed Cameroonian national, Célestin Monga as the Managing Director of UN Industrial Development Organization or UNIDO based in Vienna, Austria.
 
In a statement from Africa Press Organization, the Cameroonian national is an internationally recognized economist and currently the Director of the Oxford University Press Handbook of Africa and Economics.
 
UNIDO is mandated to promote and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development in developing countries and economies in transition.
 
Quantum Global Group Founder Jean Claude Bastos De Morais described Monga as a distinguished international figure with tremendous vision and wisdom, congratulating him for the appointment.
 
The new Director said he was humbled to take the offer to ensure industrialization as the main engine of growth and prosperity in the world helps lift hundreds of million people out of poverty.
