Médecins Sans Frontières or MSF in a statement CRN got on Thursday said it is providing medical assistance since February to thirty thousand South Sudanese who fled to White Nile State in Sudan.
MSF medical team leader in White Nile State Amir Osman said most of those arriving are women, children and the elderly from Wadakona, Kaka, Renk, Malakal and their surroundings areas in Upper Nile State.
He explained that to date, MSF conducted 36,174 consultations, vaccinated 2,333 children under fiver years old for polio, and 8,566 children under 15 years for measles following a positive diagnosis.
Dr Osman said severely malnourished children were immediately enrolled into their therapeutic feeding programme while those moderately malnourished received supplementary food.
He added that currently, 3,230 are people enrolled in the therapeutic feeding programme, receiving regular medical check-ups and supplementary food.
The team leader said malnourished pregnant and lactating women are also under close observation and that MSF conducted 2,111 antenatal care consultations with 152 safe deliveries.
