Medicine San Frontiers or MSF in its October update reported that it team continues to respond to urgent medical emergencies amidst renewed fighting in Bentiu, Unity State.
The report said outside conflict-affected areas, it is responding to a massive peak in malaria cases in western parts of the country and that in some places number of cases tripled in the same period last year.
MSF said the peak of the rainy season led to increase in malaria and water-borne diseases such as diarrhoea, accelerating malnutrition and hasten death.
MSF pointed out that thousands of patients to relied on its health centres and hospitals for treatment due to a long and heavy rainy season and problems in the distribution of diagnostic tests and malaria drugs to peripheral health centres.
The report said MSF treated over 60 thousand inpatients for malaria since the outbreak of the crisis with another 550 thousand outpatient consultations.
