Safer World on Tuesday launched community security programme in Yambio, Western Equatoria State on conflict analysis, strategic plans and peace dialogue with all stakeholders.
State Project Coordinator Gardino Joseph Secondo said their last year’s assessment indicated security improvement in Western Equatoria between 2010 and 2014.
State Security Advisor Samuel Bati urged Safer World to find ways to facilitate resolution of conflict between pastoralists and farmers in Greater Mundri because it is the major security threat in Western Equatoria.
He suggested involvement of traditional leaders in the resolution of the matter.
State Local Government Minister Daniel Ezbon Zingifuaboro called on development partners to combat all security threats without discriminations.
The occasion brought together government officials, UN agencies, traditional leaders, women, youths and law enforcement agents.
Safer World for first time established its office in Yambio, bringing the number of its branches to seven in South Sudan excluding Upper Nile states due insecurity.
