United Nations Children agency or UNICEF Life skills and peace building Specialist said they concluded a national conference on Thursday in Juba; brainstorming methods of using education to hammer peace culture in South Sudan.
Dr Thalema Majela said the conference resolved working on a policy to integrate life skills and peace building into education curriculum to develop peace loving youths, Radio Bakhita reported.
The Life Skills Specialist observed that young people are champions of violence in South Sudan and that efforts should be made to use them as tools for wielding peaceful citizenship.
She added that there is need to create learning spaces as zone of peace by multiple stakeholders responsible for youth character development in the country.
Dr Majela explained that learning spaces draw young people from schools and out of school including education institutions coming together to promote peace culture.
Student Representative Juliet Lino said they learned a lot about peace building from the conference and that they would appreciate if UNICEF conducts it every year.
