Support Peace Initiative Development Organization or SPIDO on Wednesday launched a project on Access to Justice in Torit, Eastern Equatoria State.
SPIDO Rule of Law Officer Morris John Peter said they trained paralegals to be capable of resolving issues within communities for all to have access to justice, Radio Emmanuel reported.
United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS Human Rights Officer Jerry Lokule called for focus on vulnerable groups to attain gender equality.
He voiced out UNMISS’ commitment in working together with SPIDO on matters related to justice.
United Nations Development Programme or UNDP Rule of Law Officer Lucia Jovani called for joint work to raise awareness, attributing revenge killing in many societies to lack of access to information on legal procedures.
At least 25 participants from Civil Society Organizations, UNDP, law enforcement agencies, students, government officials, women group and persons with disabilities attended the launch of the Access to Justice Project
UNDP funded the project in Torit, Eastern Equatoria.
