The national Council of Ministers in its Friday regular sitting endorsed 37 million South Sudanese Pounds for restoring peace and security in Lakes and Warrap States where there are routine bloody intersection clashes involving killings.
Deputy Government Spokesperson Rachel Nyadak told the press that the approval followed Interior Minister Aleu Ayieng Aleu’s presentation of the need to strengthen police capacity to maintain law and order in the two chaotic states.
She added that the budget would be released to the Interior Ministry as soon as requisition is put to Finance Ministry.
The Deputy Spokesperson said a committee was already formed to devise peace and stability mechanisms for Lakes and Warrap States.
Ms Nyadak said the cabinet also recommended disarmament of civil population and that peace and reconciliation conferences should be held in Lakes and Warrap to normalize life.
She added that the Council of Ministers suggested speed justice for apprehended perpetrators of violence in the troubled states to realize peace.
The Deputy Government Spokesperson disclosed that the cabinet hailed Finance Minister Aggrey Tisa Sabuni for the improvement of non-oil revenue collection at border points.
She added that the cabinet recommended capacity building for accountants and redeployment of staff within Finance ministry for efficiency and productive output.
Ms Nyadak revealed that Malaysian government pledged to build capacities of Petroleum and Mining ministry staff in South Sudan to boost oil revenues generation at operational sites.
