Mother of Mercy Hospital nurse in Children Ward in Heiban County reported that the outbreak of measles which started in Jamazai, around Abasiya is alarmingly spreading to all areas in Southern Kordofan.
Kokani Ibrahim cited over five dead cases in one month and over 100 children admitted in the hospital, warning that the number may increase, Voice or Peace.
He said it keeps rising and children are brought from different parts of the region.
Mr Ibrahim blamed communities, especially parents for allowing body contacts of patients with non affected children leading to high spread of the disease.
He advised those visiting patients to avoid shaking hands, advising that they should wash their hands and clothes thoroughly to avoid the situation.
Mr Ibrahim called on parents or gradients to bring their children particularly nine months old for immunization against measles to minimize infection.
