Three people, including a woman and two children narrowly escaped death when a house caught fire and burnt them seriously at Kauda, Fog Village of Heiban County in Nuba Mountains.
One of the victims Adia Idriss told Voice of Peace that the incident happened on Thursday night at 10:00 PM after her baby was bitten by a scorpion and she went to the neighbourhood teachers’ compound, seeking for some treatment.
She said she got burnt while rescuing children sleeping in the house that was on fire.
Mrs Idriss added that some items were rescued while others were reduced to ashes.
A nurse in Hospital in-charge of female ward, Kucha Marida Paulino, confirmed that Mrs Adia and her two children were receiving medical treatment, advising parents not to leave children alone when there is fire.
She advised community members to put off fire whenever they are leaving their houses.
