The Congregation of St Theresa Parish on Sunday strongly condemned the attack allegedly carried out by a group of policemen on Rumbek Catholic Diocese Administrator.
Fr John Mathiang Machol was attacked and tortured last Wednesday morning by body guards of the national Interior minister Aleu Ayieny, Good News Radio reported.
St Theresa Parish Priest Salvatore Ferao condemned the incident, explaining that the Diocesan Administrator was attacked while taking a sick person to the Hospital for treatment where the police blocked his car, pulled him out of the car, beat him and robbed his shoes.
He appealed to Lakes State Government to thoroughly investigate the torture and humiliation done to Fr Mathiang.
The Parish priest called on the policemen who beat the Administrator of the Diocese of Rumbek to come and confess to Fr Mathiang for forgiveness.
The Catholic Church faithful in Rumbek were angered by the humiliation the policemen did to their leader.
