National Elections Commission Chairperson on Monday told the fourth Governors’ Forum in Juba that the international community is not ready to support 2015 general elections.
Abednego Akok wondered whether the government would be able to fund huge elections’ programs on its own.
He urged the national government to woo diplomatic missions to support election programs in South Sudan.
The Chairperson believes the power belongs to the people not the government, urging governors to sensitize masses to change from hostile mentality to a peaceful one.
Professor Akok added that let the people’s will and sovereignty prevail to transit government leadership without compromise.
The Chairperson sees possibility of conducting 2015 elections without national population & housing census and foreign funding if the government is serious.
