South Sudan Council of Churches or SSCC Women program in Bahr El Ghazal region conducted two-day training on conflict mitigation and peace dialogue to empower women in the quest for peace.

SSCC National Coordinator Agnes Wasök Sarafino said the workshop empowers women on peace building, conflict mitigation and participate in peace dialogue as they are always sidelined in community affairs.

Ms Wasök disclosed that the Council of Churches Women Program office was established in June 2013, explaining that there are few women in the Church capable of handling leadership.

She lamented that the Council lacks women personnel and that they are planning to create three main offices in Bahr El Ghazal region.

Ms Wasök urged women especially in the Bahr El Ghazal region to be peace makers from homes, communities to the national level.

The workshop brought together 20 women from six Council of Churches’ branches in Bahr El Ghazal region.
