Torit Catholic Diocese Apostolic Administrator on Friday during the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of Bishop Paride Taban at Loa Parish used the quotation: ‘The harvest is rich but labourers are few’ for appealing to youths to join priesthood.

Monsignor Thomas Oliha said Loa Parish has only two priests, urging the young peopel to succeed the old ones in the ministry of God, Emmanuel Radio reported.

He appealed to the youths to join Church building by responding to God’s call to become priests, brothers and sisters to take over from the senior ones.

Torit Emeritus Bishop Paride Taban said though the diocese lacks priests, it started with five but produced about 70 others, but that many abandoned the ministry.

He noted that Torit Diocesan priests served the Archdiocese of Khartoum and El Obeid, but all moved out after the signing of peace agreement.

Bishop Taban called for formation of good families in order to get better priests.
