Heavy fighting broke out on Friday among students of Rumbek National Secondary School over an eloped girl.
The fighting that started between two students: the boy who eloped the girl and the relatives of the girl, later attracted all students, Good News Radio reported.
The School Acting Headmaster John Samba Rabeh regretted the violence which caused many wounds on students’ heads, calling all students to remain calm and refrain from hostility.
Rumbek Central County Police Chief Inspector Isaac Mayuom Gop condemned the fight on Friday morning and fresh fighting the following day in the town market.
He called on the students to stop fighting in schools and business places, vowing to continue arresting the culprits.
During the Saturday morning fight, the police managed to arrest 16 students while others ran away when they heard police gunshots.
This was the fourth time students in Rumbek National Secondary School fought each other.
