Yei Municipal Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture is expected to conduct its elections despite earlier rejection of the chairperson who described the exercise as “unconstitutional and unprocedural”.

Yei Town Block Acting Secretary Malish Maliamungu told Easter Radio on Thursday that the election would soon take place and that state officials from Juba are expected to arrive on Sunday to organize the exercise within the Municipality.

Mr Malish advised traders to learn from the past and elect competent and reasonable leaders who would present and resolve business community’s problems.

He read out a circular dated July 26, written by the state secretary Thomas Taban, giving a green light for the elections to take place.

The County Chamber of Commerce chairperson Tito Ayambu Tito on Tuesday said they would boycott elections because their national counterpart did not serve them with a letter.

He called on the National Chamber of Commerce Secretary General to address the confusion.

Mr Ayumbu said the County Chairperson would only head the county, if the traders vote a new chairman to represent them at the municipal level.
