ACROSS supported by GIZ in Yei on Tuesday started distributing school materials including washing soap, water, colouring books and crayons to ten primary schools involved in hygiene promotion to prevent cholera.
GIZ Urban Water Cooperation and Sanitation Development Officer Anthony Barda told Easter Radio at Christ the King Primary School of Yei Catholic Diocese that the materials were given to pupils to enlighten them on procedures of avoiding the killer disease.
The officer said ACROSS is supporting only ten primary schools involved in hygiene and sanitation promotion.
Christ the King Primary School head teacher Taban Emmanuel commended GIZ for supporting the school for many years through training health club members, water tank establishment and donations.
The head teacher appreciated the hygiene promotion clubs for maintain sanitation and raising awareness of the population on the healthy living.
